<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZCQkdkwzR0A/U3Iit9X-J5I/AAAAAAAADzM/xJzznaCXDVQ/s1600/20140511_211953.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZCQkdkwzR0A/U3Iit9X-J5I/AAAAAAAADzM/xJzznaCXDVQ/s1600/20140511_211953.jpg" height="115" style="cursor: move;" /></a>First rule about Infinity scenery is easy: It's never enough... Seriously, until now we managed to gather respectable amount of scenery elements for Infinity; but I still can't shake the feeling off that we need more :)<br />
<br />
Our local gaming store recently decided to bring in stuff from Bandua Wargames and I thought it's a good opportunity to try other manufacturers than Micro Art Studios. Bandua is a Spanish company that has a rather small but growing "<a href="http://www.banduawargames.com/en/935-designed-for-infinity" target="_blank">Designed for Infinity</a>" scenery product line. The building you see here is called <a href="http://www.banduawargames.com/en/designed-for-infinity/4432-q-building-l.html" target="_blank">Q-Building L</a>. Like many other Infinity scenery manufacturers, Bandua products are also made of MDF.<br />
<br />
First things first: I really liked the design of the building although it looks like a geometric shape at first. It is also obvious that the designers clearly kept the game rules in mind when designing this piece: There are plenty of covers on the roof, the stairs are so practical and the door is removable.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qy4G_i-ffIY/U3IisqRs27I/AAAAAAAADy8/0dpw4X-pBJs/s1600/20140511_211859.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qy4G_i-ffIY/U3IisqRs27I/AAAAAAAADy8/0dpw4X-pBJs/s1600/20140511_211859.jpg" height="150" /></a>But there's always a but :) The building lacks the good looks of Micro Art's products, probably due to not having the extra layers on the surfaces. Moreover, there are neither windows nor any interior details. The roof is not removable aaaaand... there is no floor :)<br />
<br />
It's not as bad as it sounds. Remember, this is not a modular scenery piece so you are getting what you pay for. You are just buying a wooden box to block LoF, which has plenty of covers and adds an element of height to the game to some degree. Go on and mix them up with some modular pieces like the ones from Micro Art and your warzone will look nice.<br />
<br />
The price tag on this piece is €12. You can find it cheaper from other sellers, granted; but it is not a bad price if you ask me. If you are in need of a decent, futuristic urban-themed scenery, you will like them. Just keep in mind that they are not modular though.<br />
<br />
Enjoy the photos...<br />
<br />
<b><u>Note:</u></b> I was preoccupied with RL issues for quite some time now; but I'll try to provide regukar updates from now on.<br />

Currently I'm in the middle of a huge project and this one was a breath of fresh air for me. In my opinion, this little guy is one of the coolest miniatures in Ariadna product range with that fancy scenic base and whatnot.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UpPqFZK9pgM/UueiuQli7DI/AAAAAAAADeg/IIA4PWz5zsk/s1600/DSC02032.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-UpPqFZK9pgM/UueiuQli7DI/AAAAAAAADeg/IIA4PWz5zsk/s1600/DSC02032.JPG" height="150" /></a><br />
I tried to replicate the studio paint with this one. The only part I improvised was the boots actually as I found the original painting on the boots too much green. Most of the painting was done with airbrush, masking the finished parts with tack-it. I must say I am getting very comfortable with my new airbrush, Badger Sotar 20/20.<br />

<br />
Enjoys...<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OQp2qIOrikg/UtVL7PaXzJI/AAAAAAAADPw/UiVk-o2Tdz4/s1600/DSC01966.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-OQp2qIOrikg/UtVL7PaXzJI/AAAAAAAADPw/UiVk-o2Tdz4/s200/DSC01966.JPG" width="160" /></a>After the Dozer reported for duty, it was time to rush the Traktor to the action. Today's post will be a<u> </u>little longer than usual, as I did quite some custom job on this one. But don't worry, there are still photos to keep you entertained...</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The idea for this project was first sparked in my mind after... well after I saw the price tag of these remotes: <a href="http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/traktor-muls-regiment-of-artillery-and-support/" target="_blank">A couple of them for 41,95€</a> was a bit steep for me and I only needed one really. As soon as I decided to take on this project, I started looking for some suitable models to be the basis for this conversion. I looked into the opportunity to use old WH40k Orks tanks at the early stages; but I quickly moved away from that idea because they were too big to sit on a 40mm round base and most probably they were off scale.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The solution found me during one of my routine eBay searches. I think most of you would know Micro Arts Studio, the Polish mini designer company which have a beautiful product line of scenery and accessories in "Designed for Infinity". Well, it turned out that they also have a product line called <a href="http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/iron-brotherhood-ltru02-p-172.html" target="_blank">Iron Brotherhood</a> and one of those resin miniatures was the perfect fit for me. I quickly ordered one and it was what I based this conversion on.</div>
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-htKNSoGtYtc/UtU_EjXaNfI/AAAAAAAADOg/sraxNwhe9_4/s1600/Bratherhood_Of_Steel_LTRU02_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-htKNSoGtYtc/UtU_EjXaNfI/AAAAAAAADOg/sraxNwhe9_4/s200/Bratherhood_Of_Steel_LTRU02_1.jpg" width="158" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">This figure was used as the basis</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I assembled the chassis and the tracks of this Iron Brotherhood before diving into my bitz box. I found the "head" within my Abyssal Dwarf leftovers, while I also used bits from Warhammer Dwarf kits.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span id="goog_1865516767"></span><span id="goog_1865516768"></span><br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span id="goog_1865516767">In the club, we have an urban themed scenery elements to play Infinity. So I decided to </span><span id="goog_1865516768"></span>create a base that would hopefully fit to the theme. I laid some cork on the base for the road and some balsa for the sidewalk. I carved the cork a little to look like drain. After that, I placed the mini on the base and attached the head bit to its place. At the front , I drilled a couple of holes to place a piece of paperclip which will support the lights.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C9bThOOudpU/UtVBecLwZeI/AAAAAAAADOo/jkZPUYfSzr4/s1600/20140101_205834.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="178" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-C9bThOOudpU/UtVBecLwZeI/AAAAAAAADOo/jkZPUYfSzr4/s200/20140101_205834.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Early stage</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I was also busy with the other decorative bits like the traffic sign, the baggage bits and the lights. Traffic sign was scratch-built from tea stirrer and some plastic sheeet. The baggage bits were from a Warhammer Dwarf kit. I just glued them in couples to place them at the back of the mini. The lights were from another dwarf kit's bit. I tore that bit apart to get into a shape which could be used as lights.</div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">Various bits & pieces I used</span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
After getting all the pieces I wanted, I put them together to see if they looked ok together.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VUx3L89Ti6k/UtVGWf5nkmI/AAAAAAAADPU/Evyvodnh5Ak/s1600/20140101_220131.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-VUx3L89Ti6k/UtVGWf5nkmI/AAAAAAAADPU/Evyvodnh5Ak/s200/20140101_220131.jpg" width="171" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pDaP-IM0o1U/UtVGWTNCBlI/AAAAAAAADPQ/FCdKHKVTczw/s1600/20140101_220140.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-pDaP-IM0o1U/UtVGWTNCBlI/AAAAAAAADPQ/FCdKHKVTczw/s200/20140101_220140.jpg" width="172" /></a></div>
<br />
At that point, only the weapon arms were missing. I wanted this mini to have missile launchers. Even though I could have done them from scratch, I learned from the 40k players that there was something called "Havoc Launcher". After checking those bits, I felt that that might work and went for them. However, my friend who was supposed to bring them to me was some 2 months late :) My would-be traktor sit on my desk idly all that time.<br />
<br />
Anyways, at the end I got the havocs and saw that all those 6 barrels are tad too big for this beauty. I had to cut them down to 4 barrels and attached them to the sides. It was time for painting.<br />
<br />
Even though the original paint job did not have any camo pattern, I wanted to try a 3-color NATO camo design. I started with dark brown base on black undercoat then masked it with Tack-It before spraying the green paint.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5hjBhuPWZY/UtVI-BIsXuI/AAAAAAAADPo/ILvltDdzrao/s1600/20140109_234730.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Z5hjBhuPWZY/UtVI-BIsXuI/AAAAAAAADPo/ILvltDdzrao/s200/20140109_234730.jpg" width="181" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Ready for green</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
After laying down the greens, I removed the masks and did blacks of the camo with regular brush. I forgot to take photos after that point so I have to jump to the conclusion now :)<br />
<br />
While I was just about to finish, I thought that it would be a nice idea to add a a piece of urban trash somewhere and did the tiny McDonald's cup. I also tried to do a smoke plume out of green tufts and did the minor freehands on the weapon arms: The Ariadna faction logo and a "2" in a digital font, which happened to be its name :)<br />
<br />
Well, that was pretty much it and I think it is damn close to <a href="http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/traktor-muls-regiment-of-artillery-and-support/" target="_blank">the original figure</a> (minus my painting ofc). Hope you enjoyed it. Comments are welcome as always...<br />

Recently, there has been some updates in ITS, Infinity Tournament System. One of the most important among them was the definition of the "specialist troops". Some missions in ITS requires specialist troops like hackers, doctors, engineers and such for certain actions. In previous ITS rules, Lieutenants, the leader of the strike team, used to be considered as a specialist troop. Well, no more... That hurts the Ariadna forces since we do NOT have any hacker in our list, our doctors can't treat flu properly and so on. That's why until now I have been counting on the lieutenant to do the crucial work.<br />
<br />
Today's update is about an Engineer troop, a Dozer with Akrylat-Kanone. I tried to stay true to the original painting to the best of my ability, only playing with the base a little. Also I am using a new background for the photos. Let me know how you feel about that.<br />
<br />
Enjoy...<br />

I guess it is time to write a review post to wrap up the year. I always like these kind of opportunities to look back and see what I have done throughout the year; it was one of the reasons why I started this blog actually. So, let's get started...<br />
<br />
To kick off 2013, I announced my new army project: <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/01/the-arabian-knights-of-saladin-arabian.html" target="_blank">An Araby-themed Bretonnian army</a> which I call "The Arabian Knights of Saladin". The bulk of the army was from Black Tree Design's Warriors of Islam product line, with several figures from Perry Miniatures and Reaper Miniatures. Also don't forget the cheap plastic toys and numerous bits from other kits.<br />
<br />
<u><b>JANUARY</b></u><br />
<br />
In January, I was mostly into the Arabian Knights project and <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/01/birthday-present-like-boss-orc-bust.html" target="_blank">my -late- birthday gift for Mr.Lee</a>, "The Oppressor". This has been a thing between us for quite some time now. We started giving miniatures as gifts to each other at first; but then it evolved to giving painted busts.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P0Vb0gd3lx0/UPkr899TiyI/AAAAAAAABRU/3tAd1a8DRqo/s1600/DSC01422.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-P0Vb0gd3lx0/UPkr899TiyI/AAAAAAAABRU/3tAd1a8DRqo/s1600/DSC01422.JPG" height="200" width="185" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-01xvnFpbXNs/UP2G6HHwtyI/AAAAAAAABSU/8HisEeyq-3Q/s1600/DSC01434.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-01xvnFpbXNs/UP2G6HHwtyI/AAAAAAAABSU/8HisEeyq-3Q/s1600/DSC01434.JPG" height="200" width="121" /></a></div>
<br />
On the left, <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/01/arabian-knights-mounted-musicians.html" target="_blank">some early musician knights</a>, from Perry Miniatures. The other photo is the orc bust.<br />
<br />
<u><b>FEBRUARY</b></u><br />
<br />
Quite a slow month, with only three updates. I started the month with an usual figure: <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/02/probably-most-expensive-paint-job-ever.html" target="_blank">Prince Apophas</a> from Tomb Kings line. I painted this one for a local kid, who was so generous to the club to give us a free PC...!<br />
<br />
Another update was the towering <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/02/arabian-knights-manjaniq.html" target="_blank">manjaniq</a>, trebuchet substitute for the Arabian Knights army.<br />
<br />
The last update was a <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/02/wrapping-army-up-magma-cannon.html" target="_blank">Magma Cannon</a> for the chaos dwarf army, my previous project. In a moment of weakness, I couldn't resist the urge to get my hands on that.<br />
<br />

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ueeMGwyRsO4/URAbv7bLp6I/AAAAAAAABVk/T3WPkjZRXsM/s1600/DSC01463.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ueeMGwyRsO4/URAbv7bLp6I/AAAAAAAABVk/T3WPkjZRXsM/s1600/DSC01463.JPG" height="150" /></a><a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7UWhSUqCrSI/URn081vCapI/AAAAAAAABWo/6M2ywgFCYwc/s1600/DSC01482.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7UWhSUqCrSI/URn081vCapI/AAAAAAAABWo/6M2ywgFCYwc/s1600/DSC01482.JPG" height="150" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qVFOjWjeLC0/USR9TPzMbUI/AAAAAAAABXs/QpG0AIX5Qzo/s1600/DSC01499.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qVFOjWjeLC0/USR9TPzMbUI/AAAAAAAABXs/QpG0AIX5Qzo/s1600/DSC01499.JPG" height="150" /></a></div>
<br />
<u><b>MARCH</b></u><br />
<br />
This is the month in which the Arabian Knights project really took off. Every single thing that came out of my workshop was Arab-Breton guys: <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/03/arab-girls-riding.html" target="_blank">A couple of mounted damsels</a>, a bunch of <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/03/arabian-knights-camelry.html" target="_blank">camel rider knights</a> and a unit of <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/03/arabian-knights-vulture-knights.html" target="_blank">vulture riders knights</a>, pegasus stand-ins.<br />
<br />

<br />
<u><b>APRIL</b></u><br />
<br />
April was a productive month for my standards; but also it was a week with mixed focus. I started the month working with <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/04/arabian-knights-fremen.html" target="_blank">Arabian Knights</a> again; but halfway in the month I was distracted, again... My distraction took me to chaos dwarf lands once again. This time it was a unit of <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/04/breaking-promise-fiery-way.html" target="_blank">K'daai Fireborn</a>s. After that, I moved away from Warhammer altogether in favor of Infinity. Back then I and a mate from club started promoting Infinity heavily in our club. Every thursday we held Infinity nights to keep the interest going. As a result of that, I redirected my efforts to Infinity miniatures. <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/04/the-dude-mad-and-deadly-ariadna.html" target="_blank">Antipode Pack</a> was the most notable of those.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EdRunKJK0Ko/UXWmBOyUb2I/AAAAAAAABck/pB6YCTqcDVo/s1600/DSC01728.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-EdRunKJK0Ko/UXWmBOyUb2I/AAAAAAAABck/pB6YCTqcDVo/s1600/DSC01728.JPG" height="100" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VVGV2hTMLec/UWgGsOi-VfI/AAAAAAAABbM/vjoIduI_tw4/s1600/DSC01704.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-VVGV2hTMLec/UWgGsOi-VfI/AAAAAAAABbM/vjoIduI_tw4/s1600/DSC01704.JPG" height="100" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hnUiclsobR8/UW_8uXW38SI/AAAAAAAABb0/YseN1gZiC-o/s1600/IMG_0964.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hnUiclsobR8/UW_8uXW38SI/AAAAAAAABb0/YseN1gZiC-o/s1600/IMG_0964.JPG" height="100" /></a></div>
<br />
<u><b>MAY</b></u><br />
<br />
With the summer knocking on the door, it was another slow month with only a couple of updates. One was <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/05/ariadna-112-emergency-service.html" target="_blank">another Infinity figure</a>, a figure that Mr.Lee gave me for my birthday before... Due to Infinity being stagnant at best in our club environs, it stayed in the drawers so long.<br />
<br />
The other update was about a monstrosity. No kidding there, it was a <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/05/other-side-of-portal-another-hellcannon.html" target="_blank">Hellcannon of Chaos project</a> that I long had in my mind. I was very happy with the result to be honest and I received nothing but praise from my buddies...<br />

<u><b>JUNE</b></u><br />
<br />
Before I go on talking about the minis, I must say somethings about the turmoil in Turkey which erupted on the very last day of May. The protests against demolishing a park at the heart of İstanbul quickly turned to a massive turmoil throughout Turkey after violence from the riot police. Mass protests went on for more than two months and I was either on the streets protesting or before my computer to convey information to those on the streets. I don't want to bore you to death; but you can read more on <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/06/its-not-about-scenery-its-about-sending.html" target="_blank">my blog post about the Gezi Park protests</a>.<br />
<br />
The protests really changed the way we lived. Many people joined the protests immediately after they were out from their day job, only to go home to sleep. Those days, I was rarely before my workshop, so the only thing I managed to complete was another bunch of camel rider guys.<br />
<br />
Also, since it was summertime, we had pre-planned vacations. One of the most impressive destinations was Lisbon, Portugal. I was even able to hunt down a GW store there and went on to meet and chat local guys. You can read about my insights about the Portugal travel <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/06/tourists-view-portugal-wargaming-scene.html" target="_blank">here</a>.<br />

<br />
<u><b>JULY</b></u><br />
<br />
Literally no updates. Was still protesting...<br />
<br />
<u><b>AUGUST</b></u><br />
<br />
The protests were settling down and we actually went for swimming and do other summer stuff without any guilt. No real updates; but I published an Infinity battle report over three blog posts. This batrep proved to be a success, drawing attention to my blog from many sources, most notably from the official Infinity forums. If you are interested, you can read more about the most awesome Infinity battle report from <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/08/infinity-battle-report-few-good-men_14.html" target="_blank">part 1</a>, <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/08/infinity-battle-report-few-good-men_15.html" target="_blank">part 2</a>, <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/08/infinity-battle-report-few-good-men_16.html" target="_blank">part 3</a>.<br />

<br />
<u><b>SEPTEMBER</b></u><br />
<br />
No updates again, due to job change. It was helluva busy month for me since I was expected to transfer my responsibilities to other people at work, where there were still business to take care of for the customers...<br />
<br />
<u><b>OCTOBER</b></u><br />
<br />
After starting working for a big corporation, my leisure time was increased significantly. Most of the times, I was busy with Infinity scenery which we all chipped in to buy. The very first piece I finished was the <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/10/review-micro-art-studio-district-5-l.html" target="_blank">District 5 L Apartment.</a> I tailored my post about that piece to include some kind of review as well and I covered every piece of Infinity scenery that way from then on.<br />
<br />
Before the month's out, I was able to squeeze another Infinity figure, a <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/10/death-from-above-ariadna-para-commando.html" target="_blank">Para-Commando proxy</a> for my Aradna force.<br />
<br />

<br />
<u><b>NOVEMBER</b></u><br />
<br />
Even though it was quite a productive month, I was too lazy to post about what I completed. The only post from this month was for the <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/11/review-sarissa-precision-system-gantry.html" target="_blank">Sarissa Precision Gantry Set</a>. However, I managed to complete two of MAS' District 5 Apartment, one Objective Room and several concrete wall sets. By then we had some decent Infinity scenery in the club and we held our very first Infinity tourney. It was a 200pts tourney with only four players; but I'm inclined to see that tourney as the crowning achievement of our efforts to promote Infinity. Wish I won that one though :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMDlAd_5MyY/Uo9QY5wbJHI/AAAAAAAACYg/TVTEgMcVLtY/s1600/2013-11-21+00.57.42.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMDlAd_5MyY/Uo9QY5wbJHI/AAAAAAAACYg/TVTEgMcVLtY/s1600/2013-11-21+00.57.42.jpg" height="150" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<br />
<u><b>DECEMBER</b></u><br />
<br />
With the extra motivation of the Slow-Grow fantasy tournament started in the club, I turned my attention to the Arabian Knights once again. The first step was for 750pts which I easily matched; but for the next step, I was expected to have 1250pts. That required me to paint more and more Arabs and so I did. After <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/12/too-much-at-stake-for-fremen.html" target="_blank">increasing the number of the archers</a> to ten, I completed another unit of camel rider guys in a couple of waves: <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/12/arabian-knights-oasis-knights.html" target="_blank">Regular guys</a> first, <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2014/01/arabian-knights-camelry-command.html" target="_blank">command guys</a> later.<br />
<br />
With the year is over now, I am pleased to see that my Arabian Knights project is a 1500pts worth of an army now. I even took a family photo :)<br />
<br />
<br />

<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dp-Z0dH-B1E/Usvr-jW7ioI/AAAAAAAADDQ/9_2i5RMXy1s/s1600/20140102_175547.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Dp-Z0dH-B1E/Usvr-jW7ioI/AAAAAAAADDQ/9_2i5RMXy1s/s1600/20140102_175547.jpg" width="424" /></a></div>
<br />
So what happens now...? Why, it's time for the lame new year's resolutions of course. Even though I still have many Arab guys lying around, waiting to get painted, I don't think that I'll do much on that front until I learn about the future of the Breton army. There are some rumors about the army that it might be consolidated and whatnot, so it's best to see what GW thinks of the army first.<br />
<br />
I am still keen on keeping my last year's resolution which was to have a new painted army every year. I think this year it will be a new Infinity force; but I haven't decided what it will be yet.<br />
<br />
Also I'll have to finish the bust that I bought for Mr.Lee for his birthday, which I'm already late as usual. Oh well...<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading all the way down here. I wish you all had a nice year and wish you the best for this one.</div>

In my new year's resolutions last year, I had pledged to complete an army at the end of every year from then on. Even though I wouldn't say that this army is entirely finished, I'd still consider that pledge fulfilled, considering all the distractions in my personal life and the turmoil in my country. I'll write about all those "excuses" in another post though.<br />
<br />
So, what I have here is yet another batch of camelry. I was lacking command options for the second knight "bus", so I had to make myself some banners. Guys are from Black Tree's <a href="https://www.blacktreedesign.com/restofworld/product.php?productid=23765&cat=2486&page=1" target="_blank">Warriors of Islam</a> product line again. Like the previous camelry figures, High Elves bits came very handy here too.<br />
<br />
With this batch, the second knight unit is completed. Before moving forward with that project, I have some extremely late birthday gift for Mr.Lee to take care of. It will prove an awesome opportunity to try my new airbrush, a Badger Sotar 20/20, for detail work, yay... <br />
<br />
Enjoy...<br />

The current points level is 1250pts and I've been trying hard to keep up with increased points. This time, I managed to finish five more camel riders.<br />
<br />
I used <a href="https://www.blacktreedesign.com/restofworld/product.php?productid=23764&cat=0&page=1" target="_blank">Black Tree's models</a> again, with the bits from Wargames Factory and Games Workshop's High Elves. I must say I've found the High Elf bits to be extremely useful in this project.<br />

<br />
<br />
More to follow in my Arabian Knights project. Meanwhile, I just hope that GW do not decide to kill the Bretonnian army as <a href="http://natfka.blogspot.co.uk/2013/12/bretonnia-quietly-going-away.html" target="_blank">some rumors</a> predict.<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wUykv_WNWtw/UrBRrBKy7LI/AAAAAAAACiE/pPqA6yzhLjc/s1600/IMAG0031.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="90" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-wUykv_WNWtw/UrBRrBKy7LI/AAAAAAAACiE/pPqA6yzhLjc/s200/IMAG0031.jpg" /></a>There's a slow-grow league going in our club nowadays. Starting from 750pts games, the aim of this league is to motivate people to build their armies, with the final games are to be played 2500pts-a-side. I found this league to be the best chance for my Arabian Knights and painted some more Fremen (peasant bowmen) for my still-fledgling army.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qdcP4hsmg20/UrBRqwCLvFI/AAAAAAAACh8/YrfmVz7s51M/s1600/IMAG0027.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="43" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qdcP4hsmg20/UrBRqwCLvFI/AAAAAAAACh8/YrfmVz7s51M/s200/IMAG0027.jpg" /></a>The miniatures are from Black Tree's <a href="http://www.blacktreedesign.com/restofworld/product.php?productid=23739&cat=0&page=2" target="_blank">Warriors of Islam</a> line as usual. My compressor has died while I was working on them so I had to revert to my brushes from halfway on. For the defensive stakes, I chopped up some cheap plastic palm tree trunks to get the effect I needed. I would also make a brazier; but I ran out of time :)<br />
<br />
After finishing these, I got my hands on some camel riders, in hopes to escalate my army to 1250pts level; but I don't think that it will be possible now unfortunately, oh well...<br />
<br />
Enjoy.<br />

Here is yet another Infinity scenery review. Although they are not among the "Designed for Infinity" range, Sarissa Precision have a scifi scenery range called <a href="http://www.sarissa-precision.co.uk/store/system8/" target="_blank">System∞</a>, which contains industrial scenery pieces made of MDF.<br />
<br />
<table align="center" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto; text-align: center;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMDlAd_5MyY/Uo9QY5wbJHI/AAAAAAAACYg/TVTEgMcVLtY/s1600/2013-11-21+00.57.42.jpg" style="margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMDlAd_5MyY/Uo9QY5wbJHI/AAAAAAAACYg/TVTEgMcVLtY/s400/2013-11-21+00.57.42.jpg" width="400" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The pieces can be lined up easily and offer plenty of cover</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
During my hunt for Infinity scenery pieces, mainly I was after two things: Buildings and elevated walkways. Finding buildings was easy enough; but when it came to the walkways, my options were extremely limited. As you probably know, Infinity is a fast paced game with a huge potential for stunts and acrobatic moves; but all of these will be for nothing if there's no cover. The problem with the other walkway systems I encountered was the fact that they didn't have any cover. Only <a href="http://ainstycastings.co.uk/product_info.php/cPath/43/products_id/232/osCsid/75207c330dfac9a2673b3d48ab31ed1c" target="_blank">Ainsty Castings' Protected Walkway</a>, and <a href="http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/catwalk-set-p-554.html" target="_blank">Micro Art Studio's Catwalk Set</a> offered decent amount of cover to be used on an Infinity gaming table.However, I was very on giving a chance to MDF, so I ended up with ordering a gantry set from Sarissa.<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: right;">
</div>
<u><b>Packaging:</b></u><br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wLS9guO11XM/Uo9QXMN8eAI/AAAAAAAACYQ/o7-HmtDImxM/s1600/IMG_1530.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wLS9guO11XM/Uo9QXMN8eAI/AAAAAAAACYQ/o7-HmtDImxM/s200/IMG_1530.JPG" width="142" /></a>Like Micro Art Studio's MDF scenery, these ones also came in roughly A4-sized MDF sheets, wrapped in cellophane. There's an A4 paper with stock photo on one side and the building instructions on the other. Speaking of photos, Sarissa should really do something about their stock photos. It is very hard to understand what is what from their stock photos. They are basically technical design schemas, which fail to impress potential buyers big time. I'd advise them to populate the website with the actual photos of each item built and painted. It would be even better if there were some more shots for scale comparison.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 8/10</b><br />
<br />
<u><b>Contents:</b></u><br />
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-O2Fwn7CkKdg/Uo9QZKzVbDI/AAAAAAAACYk/ArIGivc2Kmg/s1600/IMG_1531.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"></a><u><b><br />
</b></u> Sheets and instructions, that's it. The items are fairly easy to build, instructions are there. The only tip I cn give you here is, while you glue the stairs to their bases, mind the direction. they won't align with the walkways if you glue it the wrong way.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 8/10</b><br />
<br />
<u><b>Quality:</b></u><br />
<br />
General drawbacks of MDF apply here. You have to file them to perfection like there's no tomorrow once you remove the individual pieces from the sheet. Also, MDF soaks up the paint, so multiple layers of paint are required.<br />
<br />
After I cut off the pieces, I immediately noticed how thin and fragile the railings are. I was extremely careful while working on them; but I knew that those pieces wouldn't last long, especially in our gaming club. Long story short, before long some of them were snapped off, others were badly damaged and I ended up replacing them with leftover bits from Micro Art Studio buildings. You can see both versions below: <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1JCA8TtItFg/Uo9QV5sAJeI/AAAAAAAACYA/AQ39LuPLc1o/s1600/2013-11-21+00.56.22.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="125" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-1JCA8TtItFg/Uo9QV5sAJeI/AAAAAAAACYA/AQ39LuPLc1o/s200/2013-11-21+00.56.22.jpg" /></a><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ufbRnUfVDRE/Uo9QWA9GJRI/AAAAAAAACX8/l54PEFHBg74/s1600/2013-11-21+00.56.43.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="125" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ufbRnUfVDRE/Uo9QWA9GJRI/AAAAAAAACX8/l54PEFHBg74/s200/2013-11-21+00.56.43.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-size: x-small;">The original railings on the left, converted one on the right </span> </div>
<b> </b><br />
<br />
Except for the fragile railings, the quality is fine. There are not many details; but this is a walkway set after all...<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 7/10</b><br />
<br />
<u><b>Price:</b></u><br />
<br />
Sarissa runs a promotion for this Gantry set: Buy 5, pay 4 and you choose what pieces you want. I bought 3 walkways and 2 stairs and it ran me 20 quids for all and another 2,50 for shipping to Turkey. I am inclined to say that it is a very good price for what you get.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 9/10</b><br />
<br />
<hr />
<br />
<b>OVERALL SCORE: 8/10</b><br />
<br />
The British company has a lot to offer for those who plan to build sci-fi gaming tables. I think we will be hearing more from them. They should really handle the stock photos bit though.<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5jpVZUGSBi8/UnDooBLsaWI/AAAAAAAACQs/GMCyNoGDDgY/s1600/DSC01918.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-5jpVZUGSBi8/UnDooBLsaWI/AAAAAAAACQs/GMCyNoGDDgY/s200/DSC01918.JPG" /></a>Although all those pretty Infinity scenery items are still on my desk, I managed to find time to paint a single model to add to my current force. This saturday, we will be running a small tournament at our local club. When writing the rules, we decided to keep the leash tight for proxies and all of a sudden, I found myself short of a Para-Commando guy. Luckily, I have been thinking ahead, since I bought <a href="http://www.blacktreedesign.com/europe/product.php?productid=25480&cat=2598&page=2" target="_blank">these Starship Marines figures</a> from Black Tree beforehand to use as a proxy for Para-Commando with HMG.<br />
<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iKJwA-Uxh9A/UnDoopNgsaI/AAAAAAAACQ4/Sd9Y9HMi9sE/s1600/DSC01924.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-iKJwA-Uxh9A/UnDoopNgsaI/AAAAAAAACQ4/Sd9Y9HMi9sE/s200/DSC01924.JPG" /></a>Why you might ask. Why buy some ancient models when there are those beautiful Infinity models. Well, first of all, Black Tree minis were dirt cheap. With the promotions back when I bought them, they cost me 70p each. Moreover, there were no stores which were selling Infinity miniatures in my country. The latter is about to change now though, fingers crossed. Price was the real factor here; but to be honest, <a href="https://www.frontlinegaming.org/wp-content/uploads/2012/07/Ariadna-Para-Commandos-HMG-.jpg" target="_blank">the original figure</a> is not the best among the Infinity range.<br />
<br />
The figure came in 3 parts: Guy, bag and the ammo belt. After building it up quickly, I went on and filed the star off of the beret. I started with a blue base coat, then laid down the ochre color of the bag before putting the airbrush away. The rest was brush work.<br />
<br />
So, my tourney army is ready for the weekend. Hope I can finish some more scenery until then. Enjoy...<br />

Finally I managed to rally the guys at my club to invest in some official Infinity terrain and this is the first one I finished painting: <a href="http://www.shop.microartstudio.com/district-apartment-p-800.html" target="_blank"> District 5 L - Apartment from Micro Art Studio</a>.<br />
<br />
MAS was the very first company to produce scenery elements with the "Designed for Infinity" certification. They used to produce High Density Foam (HDF) scenery before; but most of their product line is now in MDF. District 5 L Apartment is one of those MDF products.<br />
<br />
<u><b>Packaging:</b></u><br />
<br />
The product is delivered in "sheets" of MDF in the size of an A4 paper roughly. Those sheets are stacked together and wrapped in cellophane. In front, there is the stock photo and in the back there's another paper with instructions and whatnot.<br />
<br />
The packaging is simple but effective.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 9/10</b><br />
<br />
<u><b>Contents:</b></u><br />
<br />
Laser-cut MDF sheets plus instructions. You have to remove the pieces from the sheet by cutting the small connection points, think of them as sprues. <br />
<br />
I found the instructions to be somewhat inadequate to be honest. It is just one A4 paper, front-and-back, but the instructions are generic. You will receive very similar instructions sheet with every MDF building you'll get from MAS. It gives the general idea, don't get me wrong; but it doesn't give enough info about how to build it from start to end. Also it does not provide info about how to customize the buildings, which parts are interchangeable and whatnot. It would have been very nice if they gave instructions on different builds too.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 7/10</b><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RpjQWgc6idE/UlVYEJKj8RI/AAAAAAAAB8w/KEvh_x2gQZk/s1600/IMG_1547.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RpjQWgc6idE/UlVYEJKj8RI/AAAAAAAAB8w/KEvh_x2gQZk/s200/IMG_1547.JPG" width="150" /></a><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pJDf60FQ_vM/UlVYD6KYtTI/AAAAAAAAB8k/g6sZroWL3Yo/s1600/IMG_1548.JPG" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pJDf60FQ_vM/UlVYD6KYtTI/AAAAAAAAB8k/g6sZroWL3Yo/s200/IMG_1548.JPG" width="157" /></a></div><div style="text-align: center;"><span style="font-size: x-small;">The instructions give the basics but not entirely helpful.</span></div><br />
<u><b>Quality:</b></u><br />
<br />
MDF scenery is a sound idea. It is light, yet durable and the detail level you can get with laser-cutting is incredible. The only drawback here is that you only get details on one side of the MDF. You have to populate inside of the walls by yourself, either by painting or adding other elements.<br />
<br />
The detail level is very satisfactory. There are two things that contribute to that: The precision of laser cutting and adding MDF elements on top of another to achieve a layered look that also has depth. Really good job here.<br />
<br />
Once built, the product really gives the feeling that it belongs to Infinity with he futuristic design, all the hexes and whatnot. The building is not only sci-fi themed; but also designed with the game in mind with decent spots for your minis to take cover or windows to shoot from. The doors, roofs and hatches are all removable, providing the best gaming experience without knocking down everything.<br />
<br />
The only drawback about the quality is the material itself. Once removed from the sprue, all the pieces must be filed to perfection. If you do not take your time at this step, the final product will not have smooth surfaces as it should. But this filing is very hard to be properly and takes a very long time. Actually it is the biggest hassle of building this. <br />
<br />
Another drawback with the MDF is that this material is more vulnerable to hits and bumps compared to plastic. You can easily crack, break or chip the paint of corners with a moment of carelessness. You've been warned.<br />
<br />
Lastly, I have another warning for you: MDF soaks up the paint! I dunno how many times I sprayed this one just for the undercoat (easily 10+). If you know any method that prevents MDF from soaking the paint without losing the details, please let me know. <br />
<br />
<b>Score: 9/10</b><br />
<br />
<u><b>Price: </b></u><br />
<br />
I bought this from <a href="http://darksphere.co.uk/p.php?p=47683&c=" target="_blank">Dark Sphere</a> online, which is also a London based brick'n'mortar store for £16,20. Buying it from MAS directly would run you €22,14. Shipping is not included.<br />
<br />
Now I wouldn't go out and say that it is cheap as dirt; but I doubt many of us have the talent to build scenery that looks so awesome. Not at this price. I honestly think that its price is fair; but you'd want to do a group purchase here to keep the shipping fees at an acceptable level, unless you're buying from the store directly.<br />
<br />
One last word here. If you're making an online purchase, make sure to contact with the representatives about the availability of the MAS products. The owners recently had a dispute among themselves and that had a negative effect on the availability of MAS products. They seem to have sorted things out and stuff gets restocked quickly enough; but there is no harm in checking before placing your order.<br />
<br />
<b>Score: 8/10</b><br />
<br />
<hr /><br />
<b>OVERALL SCORE: 8,25/10 </b><br />
<br />
If you play Infinity, make sure you have scenery from MAS on your table, period. They are way ahead of their competition in "Designed for Infinity" range and with good reason.<br />
<br />
Below are some painted photos of the building. Since I managed to mess my airbrush -again-, the result has not been as good as I imagined; but it has to do for now. I just added a LED mechanism under the roof as something extra. I am planning to add these kind of lighting elements to other buildings as well.<br />
<br />
Hope you enjoyed this.<br />

since they were out of enemy's LoF, they used their irregular order to
camouflage themselves again.</span></span></div>

<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Antipodes
used up another order to perform Cautious Movement through the obscured

enemy by spending one more order. However, their movement was in a
Moderator's LoF, who managed to pass the discover roll to render one of
the Antipodes visible again.</span></span><br />
<br />
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">With

I must say I've never used smoke grenades this extensively before. Even
though I spent a couple orders for that, smoking the area allowed me to
block the Suppression Fire zone and Morlock's LoF. Taking advantage of
that, I managed to advance with the Antipodes to a point that they would
threaten Reverend Moira. Also, I moved the Antipodes in such a way that
once it is Alkım's turn, they will have LoF to the Morlock. This will
provide the Antipodes an ARO chance during Morlock's impetuous order. I
will use it to close in on Reverend Moira.</span></i></span></span><br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Morlock is closing in on<br />

</tbody></table>
With his impetuous order, Morlock had to run towards
the silo. Veteran Kazak was hiding behind it. Witnessing Morlock's
movement, the Antipodes ARO-moved and continued their advance towards
the Reverend Moira.<br />
<br />
Morlock decided to use his own
irregular order to throw a smoke grenade in a fashion that it would
cover Vetern Kazak as well as himself. Antipode Controller failed to
kill the Morlock with her ARO; but Antipodes used their chance again to
move again. This move took them a leap distance from Reverend Moira.<br />
<br />
<br />
By
spending 2 more orders, Morlock came into base contact with Veteran
Kazak. In order to perform a Close Combat (CC) attack, the model must
move to base contact with the enemy. Then and only then it can issue a
CC order. Morlock was counting on his extraordinary CC value (17) and
his Martial Arts Lvl2 ability. He was superior to Veteran Kazak in CC;
but he failed the CC roll by rolling 18 and Veteran Kazak killed him.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img690/4143/a1f7.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img690/4143/a1f7.jpg" /></a><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img844/7167/ahfr.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img844/7167/ahfr.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
Yet another lucky moment for me... Alkım did everything right; but
after he failed the CC roll everything went down the drain. Actually,
there was something we played wrong here. The details are at the end of
the report...</span></i><br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Alkım:</b></span></u> Some things must start being damned by now...</span></i><br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img689/8297/3bf7.jpg" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img689/8297/3bf7.jpg" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Moderators' pilgrimage</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Next orders were spent by Moderators. They decided to
come out of the building they were in and tried to cross the entire
battlefield horizontally with an attempt to save the Reverend Moira from
the Antipode assault. <br />
<br />
The Moderators entered inside
the LoF of one of the Line Kazaks on the way and tried to shoot him
down. Alkım managed to score hits with all of his 5 burst; but I managed
to nullify 3 of them with my dodge roll and passed the ARM rolls for
the remaining 2 hits. After this scare, the Line Kazak decided that it
was enough for him and took cover deeper in the building. Antipodes were
also quick to declare their ARO to Moderators' pilgrimage. They
ARO-moved again to leap down on Reverend Moira and got into base contact
with her.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img844/8761/svp8.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img844/8761/svp8.jpg" width="176" /></a><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img854/6674/nw5c.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img854/6674/nw5c.jpg" width="209" /></a></div>
<br />
Linked
team used their last order to get in base contact with one of the
Antipodes who had ganged up on Reverend Moira. In CC, every model who is
involved in CC provides a +3 bonus. Since the Moderators had 4 models
in base contact, their CC value was boosted to 25 thanks to the +12
bonus. When the number needed to roll exceeds 20, it is considered to be
an auto-success but it also increases the critical success range. Here,
there needed roll was 25, so the critical range must be a 5 point
margin, which is 16-20. Alkım rolled 14 for CC roll. A success, but not a
critical one. Since the CC is not the Moderators' best use, Antipode
succeeded at an easy ARM save and survived.<br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
This was the biggest CC I've ever seen in a game of Infinity. There
were 8 models in the same CC! It took some time to read and interpret
the rules and calculate the numbers we needed to roll; but in the end we
managed to play the CC more or less the correct way.</span></i><br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Alkım:</b></span></u>
Sometimes things just don't go your way. I underestimated the Antipodes
and tried to close in on the Veteran Kazak with Morlock. After failing
that, I tried to bring down the Antipodes with the Moderators. I think
they were both correct moves but I should have executed them in reverse
order. Moderators should have acted first and tried to bring down at
least one of the Antipodes. I made the last moves now and just hope that
Reverend Moira survives...</span></i><br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"> </span></i><br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><b>ARIADNA TURN 3</b></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Order count: 5 regular, 1 lieutenant, 1 irregular.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
First
thing I did was to attack the Reverend Moira with Antipodes. According
to the CC rules, 3 Antipodes had a juicy +9 bonus vs Reverend Moira
whereas the linked leader had an +15 bonus against the Antipode he was
in base contact with. In the end, it turned out to be as expected:
Antipodes ate up Reverend Moira, losing one of their kind in the
process. They managed to make the "go bananas" roll though and stayed
under my command. After this CC, Nomad force was in Retreat since they
had lost %60 of their starting points.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
Finally! Killing Reverend Moira was the only thing I was after. Killing
her was important by itself; but it meant more because losing her put
the Nomad force in Retreat situation.</span></i></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Relieved,
I used my remaining orders to hide my models, ordering the Line Kazaks
to go prone and covering the Antipodes in smoke again. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img43/8923/7r3c.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img43/8923/7r3c.jpg" /></a><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img43/6566/5pvp.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img43/6566/5pvp.jpg" /></a></div>

<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><b>NOMAD TURN 3</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Once
a force loses 60% of its starting points, it goes in Retreat situation.
In this case, all the models must perform an impetuous move towards
their deployment zone. Also, the linked teams are broken and lieutenant
order is no more. As a result of the Retreat situation, Alkım had to
make 5 impetuous order and after that he would have 5 regular orders.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Alkım
spent his impetuous moves with a Coordinated Order, in hopes to
minimize the AROs from the surviving Antipodes. This time, things go his
way and he managed to get rid of the Antipodes.</span></span></div>

<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Alkım:</b></span></u>
I think both players used their troops according to their initial plan.
Morlocks and Antipodes reached to the enemy to distract them. Hard
hitters played their roles or died trying. I think I lost the game on
second turn by overlooking Antipodes' AROs and letting them too close to
Reverend Moira.</span></i></div>

<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
During deployment, Alkım had a huge advantage by placing Sin-Eater to
eagle's nestand pinned most of my troops to their spots. Because of that
threat, I couldn't move Veteran Kazak and Antipodes. When I lost
TankHunter, I thought the game was over for me; but after that incident,
my luck turned. Veteran Kazak's critical hit on the Sin-Eater and my
overly successful dodge/ARM rolls kept my troops alive. After Sin-Eater
was down, my only aim was to get the Antipodes to Reverend Moira. Thanks
to the ARO-moves, they managed to get there and did their job.</span></i><br />
<br />
<span class="bbc_u"><b>Man of The Match:</b></span>
Veteran Kazak really shined here. He just didn't die, saving hits one
after another. He also took down Sin-Eater with a crit and a Morlock in
CC before shooting down Moderators to finish the game.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br />
After
the game's over, we noticed that we made some mistakes during the game.
The most dire of those happened during Veteran Kazak vs Morlock combat.
Alkım declared that Morlock's CC was 17; but we found out that it is 18
which means he had scored a crit on Veteran Kazak in that CC. Probably
he forgot to check his ability scores among all that smoke, otherwise he
would have slain Veteran Kazak and put me in retreat instead.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
It
was a very tiring game for us. We had to take notes and shoot photos
regularly during the game in order to remember the game afterwards. A
big congratz goes to Alkım, who pulled all the notes together to form
this battle report. I hope you enjoyed reading it...</div>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">TankHunter trying to take <br />

</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">I started the game. I had 6 regular, 1 irregular and 1 lieutenant orders. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">My
first move was to reveal one of the camo markers to shoot down the
Sin-Eater. Revealed model was the TankHunter with Autocannon. This model
is one of the few options the Ariadnians have against the heavily
armored enemies.<br />
<br />
Sin-Eater opted to shoot back as his ARO. The Morlocks who had LoF to
the TankHunter decided to move towards my lines. Normally, if the
actions affect each other like exchanging gunfires, the dice rolls would
be face to face rolls. However, since TankHunter was coming out of
camouflage here, he had a chance to surprise the enemy and make a normal
roll to hit instead of FtF. Sin-Eater would only be able to return fire
if he would survive...</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">TankHunter
managed to hit with one of his two shots. Due to the explosive
ammunition of Autocannon, Sin-Eater would have to make 3 armor saves now
instead of 1. He needed 12+ to save the wounds and he managed to make
all three of them, surviving TankHunter's attack. Since he survived, he
was able to return fire. Although he needed 10- to hit TankHunter, he
managed to score hits with both of his bursts. It was TankHunter's turn
to roll for armor saves; but he only managed to make one of them and was
knocked unconscious.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img138/7341/o5qq.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img138/7341/o5qq.jpg" width="310" /></a><span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">First order, first dead: The game was on...</span></span></div>

What an unlucky start! The TankHunter had the surprise advantage and
did his part, scoring a hit on the enemy. Too bad that Alkım managed to
make all 3 rolls. To add insult to the injury, I lost TankHunter to
return fire... I am at a huge disadvantage now. I am behind in points, I
lost one of mt heavy hitters and also, I have no option to save Veteran
Kazak from the wrath of Sin-Eater </i></span></span></span><span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><i><img alt=":(" class="smiley" src="http://kulesakinleri.org/main/Smileys/default/sad.gif" title="Üzgün" /></i></span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">With
my second order, I ordered Antipode Controller to move to the right
hand side of the building. Moderator link leader BS ARO'ed that but
missed both his shots. Since the Morlocks also had LoF to her, they
ARO-moved towards me again. With her second short skill she fired her
Smoke Grenade Launcher to cover Veteran Kazak's advance. She failed to
land the smoke grenade where she wanted but I spent another order to
make it happen.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
<span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><i><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
The only option I had left to move Veteran Kazak without him getting
shot to bits by Sin-Eater was to block his vision with smoke grenade.
Even though I succeeded in this attempt, I already spent too many orders
with no gain. To make the matters worse, my actions gave many ARO
chances to Morlocks and they used those chances to move towards my
deployment zone.</i></span></span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img809/7808/tnc0.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img809/7808/tnc0.jpg" /></a><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img89/2161/gigj.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="175" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img89/2161/gigj.jpg" /></a></div>
<br />
I
used my fourth order to move the Veteran Kazak among the smoke and
take cover behind the silo nearby. With the next order, I tried my
chances with Veteran Kazak this time to take down Sin-Eater. After the
FtF roll, Sin-Eater scored a hit on Veteran Kazak; but I managed to make
the ARM save. <br />
<br />
Veteran Kazak decided to use up yet
another order to shoot Sin-Eater and this time he managed to score a
critical hit, knocking him unconsious. If you managed to roll exactly
the same number you need to succeed at an action, it is considered a
critical success. A critical success nullifies enemy's non-critical
rolls when making FtF rolls. In case of an attack, a critical hit denies
the enemy from making the ARM roll to save the wound.<br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
Just in time! Even though it was pure luck, I got rid of Sin-Eater who
has been pinning all my models to their spots. Now, I can advance from
my right hand side with Veteran Kazak and Antipodes.</span></i><br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Alkım:</b></span></u> Damn critical!</span></i><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img5/8944/uqwd.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img5/8944/uqwd.jpg" /></a><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img580/4305/r31l.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img580/4305/r31l.jpg" /></a></div>
<span style="font-family: inherit;"><i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><br />
</span></i></span>I used Antipodes' irregular order to move them inside
the obscured area. With my last order, I tried to take down the Morlock
on my right hand side, who had already advanced too much with AROs. Even
though he failed to dodge Antipode Controller's shot, he managed to
make the ARM roll and took cover.<br />
<br />
In my turn, both sides had important casualties. One of the Morlocks was dangerously close to my Veteran Kazak and Antipodes. <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><b>NOMAD TURN 1</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img4/3411/sq8e.jpg" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img4/3411/sq8e.jpg" width="178" /></a><span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Alkım had more orders than me: 6 regular, 2 impetuous, 2 irregular, 1 lieutenant orders. </span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">The
models with Impetuous rule (like Morlocks) must move towards the
closest enemy model at the start of player turn. They may shoot or use
any other short skill after this; but the first short skill must always
be move.<br />
<br />
Morlock on Alkım's left moved forward and shoot his Chain Rifle. The
template affected 2 camo markers as well as Veteran Kazak. I had many
AROs to declare now. Veteran Kazak returned fire with, well, actual
fire: Flame Thrower... Antipodes tried to scurry around to dodge
Morlock's shot whereas Antipode Controller also tried to shoot down the
Morlock from a safe distance.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">Normally,
you cannot shoot a camo marker without discovering it first; but since
Veteran Kazak is a valid target for the Morlock to shoot, Alkım placed
the template in a fashion that it would also affect the camo markers. As
a result of this, all 3 Antipodes were revealed and they were to make a
dodge roll with -6 penalty (template weapon rule). Unbelievably, all 3
Antipodes succeeded their dodges and Veteran Kazak effortlessly made his
ARM save. Morlock was not as lucky though. He was scorched by Veteran
Kazak's flamer and dropped dead. Had I lost an Antipode to this attack,
the game could have developed very differently.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;">The other Morlock moved to the center of the table with his impetuous order and took cover there.</span></span></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><span style="font-size: small;"><br />
</span></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img856/3483/g70k.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img856/3483/g70k.jpg" /></a><a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img407/5661/e0ng.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img407/5661/e0ng.jpg" /></a></div>
<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><b> </b></span> <br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><b><span class="bbc_u">Burak:</span></b></u>
Advancing with the Antipodes like that turned out to be a rookie
mistake from my side. I misinterpreted the camouflage rules and assumed
that the Morlock would need to perform an Intuitive Shot in order to
target the Antipodes with the Chain Rifle blast. In that case, I might
be able to take him down with Veteran Kazak and Antipode Controller's
AROs. However, since Alkım placed the template in a way that would
affect the Veteran Kazak, who was a valid target, allowing him to keep
the Antipodes under the blast effect. Thankfully, my luck saved me once
again while I managed to succeed all 3 dodge rolls despite the -6
template weapon penalty. It was unbelievable </span></i><i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><img alt=":D" class="smiley" src="http://kulesakinleri.org/main/Smileys/default/cheesy.gif" title="Şımarık" /></span></i><br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Alkım:</b></span></u> Damn those 3 dodges!</span></i><br />
<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Suppression Fire zone</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
With the first regular order, Reverend Moira moved to shoot down Veteran Kazak, who was posing<br />
the biggest threat to Nomads. Even though he failed to dodge the shots, he passed the ARM rolls unscathed.<br />
<br />
Surviving Morlock decided to perform two Cautious Moves to get close to the Veteran Kazak.<br />
<br />
To
prevent Veteran Kazak and Antipodes from advancing, Moderator link
leader declared a Suppression Fire order. This order would allow the
link leader to fire all of his bursts in his reactive turn should this
zone be breached.<br />
<br />
With his last couple of orders, Alkım
tried his chances to bring Veteran Kazak down with Reverend Moira. In
her shots, Moira used Armor Piercing ammo (halves the ARM value)
followed by a Double Action (forces 2 ARM saves per hit) salvo. Veteran
Kazak failed to dodge them too; but since he managed to pass most of the
ARM rolls, he only suffered 1 wound and stayed alive thanks to his No
Wound Incapacitation ability.<br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Burak:</b></span></u>
If nobody's dead from my team in the reactive turn, it must be good. I
was extremely lucky in this turn. Actually, Alkım did his best to punish
the mistakes I had made during my turn; but Lady Luck was on my side. I
managed to pass all rolls I made save one. The most important thing for
me was not losing any of the Antipodes until now.</span></i><br />
<br />
<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"><u><span class="bbc_u"><b>Alkım:</b></span></u>
Have I said damn!? Jokes aside, I had a bad turn. Losing Sin-Eater the
previous turn was not a big deal since he played his part. But failing
to kill the important models of Burak's forces and losing a Morlock on
top of this cost me the advantage I gained the previous turn.</span></i><br />
<br />
First turn is over now. You can read the rest of the battle in the next post. Thanks for reading.<i><span style="text-shadow: red 1px 1px 1px;"> </span></i></div>

Recently, Infinity has been
somewhat popular in our gaming club, to a point that we can do "Infinity
Nights" every thursday. To promote the game more and more, my regular
opponent, Alkım, came to me with the idea of preparing a battle report
of a small game. I like reading battle reports and browsing through the
pictures taken during the game; but honestly I thought that it would be
hard for us to pull that off. You know, you can easily forget the
details of the game or to take photos at the right times... Luckily,
Alkım proved to be up for the task and wrote the entire report.<br />

For the sake of readability, I will break this article in three posts. Hope you like reading it...</div>

with mission objectives or special scenarios, their high movement would
provide a huge advantage for me; but I will settle with this for now.</i></span><br />

<span style="text-shadow: blue 1px 1px 1px;"><i>With

<span class="bbc_size" style="font-size: 14pt;"><b>Deployment and Kickoff</b></span></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To
decide who will start the game or deploy first, the Lieutenants make a
face-to-face (FtF) Willpower roll. Nomads won the roll, decided the side
he would deploy and wanted the Ariadnian force to deploy first. Then I
chose to go first.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I
deployed the cheerleaders to my left hand side. This is the opposite
direction of where the fights would take place in my opinion.</div>
<br />

<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">Line Kazaks were deployed away from the thick of battle</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Antipode Controller
was deployed to the second floor of the building on the my right. Below
her, there were the Antipodes on the ground under 2 camo markers. Some
troops have the Camouflage skill. The whereabouts of this troops are
known roughly, thanks to the orbital surveillance and other tech stuff.
When deploying such models, a camo marker is placed instead of the
actual model. Next to the same building, there is another camo marker
which represents TankHunter.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I withheld one of my troops in reserve to deploy after Alkım's deployment. It was Nomads' turn to deploy now.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://imageshack.com/a/img819/3388/3cxx.jpg" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://imageshack.com/a/img819/3388/3cxx.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
Alkım
hid the Moderator link team in the building on his right hand side.
Between the building doors, the Moderator with Spitfire had a decent
view of the center of the battlefield, extending to the far left. Some
of the Moderators were watching different directions in order to prevent
any airborne troops to enter the battlefield. Next to them a Morlock
was deployed. He was "blessed" with X-Visor ability from the chemicals.</div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
To
his left hand site, Alkım only deployed the Reverend Moira and the
other Morlock, who gained Valor: Dogged ability. He also kept one model
in reserve. Below are shots after the deployments:</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
<div style="text-align: justify;">
My
last model, Veteran Kazak went to my right hand side again, wherehe
would gang up with the Antipodes. On the other hand, Alkım deployed his
last model, Sin-Eater with Sniper Rifle, to a vintage point on top of

<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pe_pM8A6hys/UcrY0Dt4ZvI/AAAAAAAABiw/23W8tQttiNg/s1600/IMG_1078.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Pe_pM8A6hys/UcrY0Dt4ZvI/AAAAAAAABiw/23W8tQttiNg/s200/IMG_1078.JPG" width="150" /></a>Last week, I visited Portugal for a little sightseeing. While my gf was giving her speech in an international conference, I decided to go out alone to see one of the Games Workshop stores in Lisbon. After a metro and tram trip to Alcantra neihborhood, and with some help from the Google Maps, I managed to get to my destination: <a href="http://www.homem-azul.com/" target="_blank">Homem Azul</a>.<br />
<br />
Once inside, the owner, Paulo, gave me a warm welcome. Luckily everyone seems to speak English very well in Lisbon. Before long, we started chatting about the gaming scene in Lisbon, Turkey, GW's policies, etc. According to what he says, the number of WH players in Lisbon area has been in decline for the last 5 years, from 30-40s to a handful. Even though there were some 6-7 people in the store, they weren't actual customers. It was only I who left the store with something.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3C9mTwqL_uw/UcrY4pc0qrI/AAAAAAAABi4/wrMayqf---4/s1600/IMG_1080.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-3C9mTwqL_uw/UcrY4pc0qrI/AAAAAAAABi4/wrMayqf---4/s200/IMG_1080.JPG" width="150" /></a><br />
The store was a three-storey one, with the highest floor containing the gaming tables, middle floor serving as the actual store. The lowest floor also had some tables and scenery but since they were stored away, it was obvious that they haven't seen any action for quite some time, sad...<br />
<br />
The stock contained the recent releases but was lacking in variety. Something perfectly understandable for such a small business. I remember seeing the latest High Elf army book and Eldar codex, as well as the phoenix box recently released for the HEs. There were also a small selection of minis from other vendors like Avatars of War, Flames of War and Dragon Rune Miniatures. It was a little disappointing for me to see that they didn't have anything about Infinity; but still I went on and bought a <a href="http://www.warpathgames.com/wholesale/warpath.php?m=detail&p=36046" target="_blank">goblin muso wolf rider</a> from Dragon Rune, as well as some paints.<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cmzVhKYt0Uk/UcrZA0rFSHI/AAAAAAAABjA/Ct3zr1ia2tY/s1600/IMG_1084.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-cmzVhKYt0Uk/UcrZA0rFSHI/AAAAAAAABjA/Ct3zr1ia2tY/s200/IMG_1084.JPG" width="150" /></a><br />
Portugal are, like almost all of the EU countries, in a financial crisis, you could tell that even by walking the streets of the town. It was sad to see that the crisis is having its toll on wargaming community in Lisbon. Before I finish, I would like to wish the best for Paulo and all the fellow wargamers out there.</div>

If you don't have an idea about what I'm talking about, you can <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/2013/06/03/world/europe/turkey-protests/index.html?hpt=hp_t1" target="_blank">read this article</a> about the protests in Turkey. Please spread the word for support.<br />
<br />
Since the protests started, I've rarely been able to go to my workbench. I and my gf are either out on streets or spending our hours on facebook and twitter, trying to convey information to the fellow protesters. Finally yesterday I found some time to spare and right after I finishedwatching the last couple of episodes of Game of Thrones (which drove me crazy), I managed to finish these.<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O4_TRj36Hpg/UbcMYmQTXuI/AAAAAAAABgw/MmGvbcuCAfs/s1600/DSC01880.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O4_TRj36Hpg/UbcMYmQTXuI/AAAAAAAABgw/MmGvbcuCAfs/s200/DSC01880.JPG" width="150" /></a><br />
These are Black Tree's Warriors of Islam Camel Cavalry. I tried to find these on their website; but I couldn't find it. Maybe they went OOP since I bought them. There are no conversions on them; but you will notice the palm tree. Ah, the smell of cheap plastics from lands afar... :)<br />
<br />
Even though the Arabian Knights project doesn't motivate me as much as I'd like these day, I'm somewhat keen to finish this army to a playable level within this year. Who knows, maybe someday the Bretons might have their army book updated...<br />

Today, my post will not be about miniatures and stuff. I believe some of you must have heard the recent events in my home country, Turkey. The huge civil disorder is in its sixth day now; but the police violence is getting more serious with each day.<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: right; margin-left: 1em; text-align: right;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CFP4CfnC1ww/Uaw_zTl_G0I/AAAAAAAABgM/bH1e1zVTiXA/s1600/gezi-parki-nda-biber-gazi-gunun-fotografi_haber_4838520.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="151" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-CFP4CfnC1ww/Uaw_zTl_G0I/AAAAAAAABgM/bH1e1zVTiXA/s200/gezi-parki-nda-biber-gazi-gunun-fotografi_haber_4838520.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The lady in red has already been one <br />
of the symbols of the resistance.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
<br />
The resistance started from a small, centrally-located park of İstanbul, Gezi Park. A couple dozen protesters had started a sit-in inside the park until they were brutally attacked by police with pepper gases and brute force. One of those protesters, the woman in red has already been one of the symbols of the resistance with her no f*ck given that day attitude vs the pepper spray.<br />
<br />
People who had grown tired of the political pressure, spearheaded by the prime minister / dictator R.Tayyip Erdoğan and accompanying police violence characterized by the extensive and overwhelming usage of pepper gas / spray, decided that enough is enough. Within hours, people gathered in Taksim Square, the iconic gathering place at the heart of İstanbul which is also nearby Gezi Park. There were no "leaders" of the resistance, people just got organized from the social media and got out on the streets. That was friday night. There were protests in more than 60 of Turkey's 81 provinces simultaneously. Millions were out on streets, while the PM was still blabbering that "Do whatever you want, our decision is final."<br />
<br />
<table cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0" class="tr-caption-container" style="float: left; margin-right: 1em; text-align: left;"><tbody>
<tr><td style="text-align: center;"><a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j6MVop5mh8E/Uaw_xepWsJI/AAAAAAAABgE/HUyCh3w89GU/s1600/gaz-bombasi-ana58.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto;"><img border="0" height="107" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j6MVop5mh8E/Uaw_xepWsJI/AAAAAAAABgE/HUyCh3w89GU/s200/gaz-bombasi-ana58.jpg" width="200" /></a></td></tr>
<tr><td class="tr-caption" style="text-align: center;">The ground is fully covered by <br />
pepper gas canisters in İstanbul.</td></tr>
</tbody></table>
Everything was fine until after midnight the police struck again. Brute force, pepper gases, water cannons that would throw you away 5 meters easily were used against the peaceful protesters. From then on, the resistance gained support and power from regular citizens, even though the violence was also increasing. FB, Twitter are full of the photos and videos of police violence but that didn't stop the protesters. The chants "Tayyip İstifa!", calling the PM to resign were everywhere.<br />
<br />
I don't live in İstanbul; but I was out on streets on friday and saturday. I was never in the thick of the events actually; just a minor exposure to pepper gas to be honest. But yesterday (sunday) was the worst of all. Even medical attention spots were gased by police, militia armed with nailed bats and supported by police hunted down small groups of protesters, surrendered protesters got thrown in the sea and more...<br />
<br />
There is a huge media blackout in Turkey. Even the news channels turned a blind eye what was going on in the country. Our only sources are what we and our friends saw and a couple of TV channels, that's all. One of the CNN reporters (who's a foreigner) reported, in disbelief:<br />
<br />
"Imagine there is a protest in Times Square and nobody's covering it. That's what's happening here right now."<br />
<br />
We, Turkish people, won't forget these dark days and the dictatorship of PM Erdoğan. Please share whatever you find about İstanbul protests. You can even find a protest organized in your home country: From New York to Milano, there happened protests with 500+ people attending. Also here is the <a href="http://edition.cnn.com/2013/06/03/world/europe/turkey-protests/index.html?hpt=hp_t1" target="_blank">CNN's coverage</a> of the events.<br />
<br />
Pissed off, wanted to blow some steam off and got off from Facebook where I tried to inform friends out on streets last night. In one hour or so, i built this. Not the best thing in the world; but it helped me to keep my mind away from all this madness surrounding the country.<br />
<br />
Thanks for reading this. <br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_v5f6NTvUpQ/UZovDRzCq6I/AAAAAAAABfk/u9-wI9mmCww/s1600/DSC01843.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_v5f6NTvUpQ/UZovDRzCq6I/AAAAAAAABfk/u9-wI9mmCww/s200/DSC01843.JPG" /></a>With my Infinity figures painted and my motivation for the Arabian Knights is rock bottom, I decided to do a project that I had in mind for quite some time now. Some of you might remember <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2012/07/terror-from-deep-second-hellcannon.html" target="_blank">my other hellcannon</a>, her sister actually (yes, it is a she, problem?). The monster is in fact a <a href="http://www.spawn.com/toys/product.aspx?product=3479" target="_blank">SPAWN action figure</a>. It was in the form of siamese twins, both of which I used as the monster part of my hellcannons now.<br />
<br />
The idea I had in mind was a scene of the summoning, with the monster is just about the step (stomp?) in from within the portal. I first started with the portal. The portal was done brick-by-brick with Pegasus Hobbies' bricks. Then I glues a cardboard between the brick frame and did the swirling portal effects with Vallejo's Oxid Paste. That stuff also helped closing the gaps here and there. Before it was completely dry, I buried some tiny skulls in the portal.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tfokGcAblHk/UZovULGR7aI/AAAAAAAABf0/Orx4nAbf12Q/s1600/DSC01864.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="100" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-tfokGcAblHk/UZovULGR7aI/AAAAAAAABf0/Orx4nAbf12Q/s200/DSC01864.JPG" /></a>After the foundation of the portal was done, I had to decorate it with some bits. I started with a couple of torches. I think they were Ainsty Castings stuff; but since I had them forever, I really can't recall. I thought a couple of hooks and hanging skulls on the side were enough, all of which were GW's bits. Finally, I cut a Hashut symbol from balsa to go on the top of the portal.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IsGeWvypdY0/UZou3ACQ_KI/AAAAAAAABfM/tFoBVNcicOo/s1600/DSC01833.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IsGeWvypdY0/UZou3ACQ_KI/AAAAAAAABfM/tFoBVNcicOo/s200/DSC01833.JPG" /></a>As for the crew, I must say my bitzbox made me a very happy man. There's a metal hellcannon crew (guy that carries the chain) with his hand bits are from OOP dwarfs box. There's the other guy with the hook. His body is from Forgeworld's infernal guard, head from Mantic's abyssal dwarf and weapon from OOP dwarf box. And the last guy were made of FW torso-Mantic head again, and also his scepter was from Mantic's halfbreeds. The bit with the book on top should be from Ainsty Castings again.<br />
<br />
Originally, my plan was to place the summoner guy on a higher ground, only accessible with spiral stairs; but since the monster occupied a huge portion of the base, I had to drop it. Baaad planning...<br />
<br />
So, that's all for today. Here are some more photos, enjoy...<br />

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A4HD8OYbdpo/UZDhMQ1G4VI/AAAAAAAABek/tOYq4Grs3dI/s1600/DSC01801.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-A4HD8OYbdpo/UZDhMQ1G4VI/AAAAAAAABek/tOYq4Grs3dI/s200/DSC01801.JPG" /></a>Here I am with yet another Infinity miniature, 112 Emergency Service. It is kinda special for me since it was my birthday gift from Mr.Lee some one and a half year ago. Recently, I thought that it gathered enough dust in my deep drawers and decided to paint it.<br />
<br />
So, this figure is also from Ariadnian army list, one of the very few doctor choices in the list actually. Since they are trained for the worst, they are not only doctors but also trained troopers and firemen (hence the axe). I just love the dynamic pose and of course, the shotgun he totes.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yk_VpRGfEjk/UZDhmWxwxSI/AAAAAAAABe0/RaJCQOi3xS0/s1600/DSC01813.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-yk_VpRGfEjk/UZDhmWxwxSI/AAAAAAAABe0/RaJCQOi3xS0/s200/DSC01813.JPG" /></a>I tried to follow the studio painting schema; but I feel I utterly failed :) I just couldn't manage to achieve that blue color of his coat with a green tint in it, so I went on with more blue; but I think I nailed the yellow parts. I am also happy with how greens turned out. <br />
<br />
With this figure is done, my stock of unpainted Infinity minis has depleted. From now on, I will observe how will the interest in Infinity be in my local club before investing more. I've been running demos for quite some time now; but unfortunately I haven't been able to get this game going until now, so we will see...<br />
<br />
I'd like to thank Mr.Lee once again for this beautiful gift. I think we learned our lesson since though, because since then, we only presented painted figures to each other :) <br />
<br />
Photo time...<br />

<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZaA6xi5tgHM/UX-DAfBFfZI/AAAAAAAABd0/yzlZxIY_LKc/s1600/DSC01794.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="200" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZaA6xi5tgHM/UX-DAfBFfZI/AAAAAAAABd0/yzlZxIY_LKc/s200/DSC01794.JPG" width="128" /></a>Operation: Ariadna is still going on. This time, it is the Scout Sniper figure which I believe is currently out of production. I have had this model forever, possibly bought it along with the starter kit when I was starting the game some 2-3 years ago. Phew, time flies so fast...<br />
<br />
There really is not much to tell about this mini. No conversion again, I just added some rubble on the base and painted the camo out of it. Camouflage, infiltration and sniper rifle, hmm... Perfect combination :)<br />
<br />
With this guy, my painted Ariadna force is now over 250 points. I have one last guy waiting on my desk to be painted and it is kinda special for me. I will try to show some extra love to him and then I will go on and buy some more models I guess :)<br />
<br />
The writing on the base is the Russian for Oleg (i hope...) in case you are wondering.<br />

<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qI2ufvmw1JI/UXWmG6JTeCI/AAAAAAAABdM/Ogw-qG6eOzY/s1600/DSC01771.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-qI2ufvmw1JI/UXWmG6JTeCI/AAAAAAAABdM/Ogw-qG6eOzY/s200/DSC01771.JPG" /></a>Surprise, surprise... Most of the you might be unaware of it; but I have a small Ariadna force for Corvus Belli's beautiful sci-fi skirmish game, Infinity. Even though there are many guys in our club with an Infinity force (close to 10 actually, if not more), we never get to play it for one reason or another. Such a shame...<br />
<br />
A month ago, while we were running the local gaming convention of my hometown, there was a huge interest in the Infinity table which I and one of my friends were in charge of. We ran numerous demo games in those couple of days and I was sure enough that we will recruit new blood for our club in the form of Infinity players. Truth is, it is yet to happen so I decided to fuel the fire a little -if there is any left- by painting and and showing off with a bunch of Ariadna minis.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hSpWrogT_Ug/UXWmET-qTKI/AAAAAAAABc0/Xf7BM-FQPhQ/s1600/DSC01767.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-hSpWrogT_Ug/UXWmET-qTKI/AAAAAAAABc0/Xf7BM-FQPhQ/s200/DSC01767.JPG" /></a>These miniatures are from the <a href="http://www.infinitythegame.com/infinity/en/2011/miniatures/antipode-assault-pack/" target="_blank">Antipode Assault Pack</a> for the Ariadnian forces. The idea is, the chick has a control device to manipulate the beast from afar and the antipodes quickly sneak up on the enemy to chew them up before they know anything. Only the best plan ever when you don't have even a pinch of technology :)<br />
<br />
The controller gal comes as a single piece mini; but all of the antipodes come in at least 5 pieces if my memory serves me right. I didn't do any conversion work on the minis. I don't play 40k so my bitz box doesn't contain that kind of stuff and even if I did, I doubt the scales would fit here. Anyways, since I didn't do any conversion on the miniatures, I showed a little more love on the bases instead. The controller's base, I did by salvaging actual circuit board from an unused phone. And yes, it was me who had torn it apart in the first place. The base of the dude with the danger sign was also done with parts from that phone. Rust in piece fella, you served me well... The base with the about-to-leap antipode has its walls done with Pegasus Hobbies bricks. The same ones that I used when doing the <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2012/10/display-board-for-my-chaos-dwarf-army.html" target="_blank">display board for my Chaos Dwarf army</a>.<br />
<br />
So, that's all for now. WHF is out in our club for quite some time now, so I will try and see if I can spark some interest in Infinity for the weeks to come. Enjoy...<br />

Fiery Way<div dir="ltr" style="text-align: left;" trbidi="on"><a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FQLOYFD5l1A/UW_83wAHsII/AAAAAAAABcI/103EPFAmHWE/s1600/IMG_0974.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-FQLOYFD5l1A/UW_83wAHsII/AAAAAAAABcI/103EPFAmHWE/s200/IMG_0974.JPG" /></a>Surprise, surprise... Last weekend, I was tidying my drawers in my painting room (balcony actually) when I found these guys, lying in one of the drawers gathering dust. I was this close to put them on eBay, cause you know, I am done with the CD army; but I thought what the hell... :)<br />
<br />
This figures are the <a href="http://www.forgeworld.co.uk/Warhammer/Warhammer_Monsters/K%27DAAI_FIREBORN.html" target="_blank">K'daai Fireborn</a> from Forge World. When I first started collecting my Chaos Dwarf army, <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2012/03/first-complete-regiment-kdaai-fireborns.html" target="_blank">I converted mine</a> from miniatures from different vendors. Forge World's k'daais have been around for quite some time now and it would have been a shame for me had I not have these in my army.<br />
<br />
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dGBDqtv6QXA/UW_83hLHSQI/AAAAAAAABcE/iz0B5FPgllQ/s1600/IMG_0972.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="150" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dGBDqtv6QXA/UW_83hLHSQI/AAAAAAAABcE/iz0B5FPgllQ/s200/IMG_0972.JPG" /></a>Painting these was pretty straightforward for me. Learning from my past mistakes where I did the flames backwards, this time I started with Yriel Yellow as a base and worked my way up to Blazing Orange and Mechrite Red. Finally, I touched the hot spots with a mixture of white and yellow. The metallic parts were done with Boltgun Metal base washed with Crimson wash for heating effect. Then I finished them with Boltgun and Mithril highlights. Mr. Lee wasn't impressed with the armor and told me that they need more contrast and offered me to use some blue wash on the armor. Also on the tips on the flames while I am at it. I'm intrigued to be honest and will give it a try soon.<br />
<br />
Now some rant... In the Tamurkhan book, these guys don't have any armor save at all, just ward saves. I don't want to be "that guy" but come on, look at them. Other than the fact that they have no resemblance to anything chaos-dwarfy, do they look like they don't have any armor saves? In my eyes, this is just one of the many examples of how sloppy was the Legion of Azgorh army list created by Forge World guys. Sad... really sad...<br />
<br />
Ok rant over, enjoy the photos...<br />

I plan to field four camel rider guys plus one of these bowmen and that's about it for a 100pts force.<br />
<br />
The bowmen are from Black Tree Design's <a href="http://www.blacktreedesign.com/restofworld/product.php?productid=23739&cat=0&page=2" target="_blank">Warriors of Islam</a> line. I have a total of 20 of these guys at home, waiting for me to some paint on them so expect more of those soon. I did all the paint job on the cloth with airbrush with occasional highlights with brush strokes in the end. They look like they are in uniform; but I am going to paint the remaining batches with different color schemes to differentiate one from another. They are lowly peasants after all...<br />
<br />
Enjoy...<br />

Due to the local convention and game days, my progress has been rather slow lately; but I managed to put some paint on this one.<br />
<br />
This miniature is from <a href="http://www.blacktreedesign.com/restofworld/product.php?productid=23766&cat=0&page=1" target="_blank">Black Tree Design</a> again. Spread over two cavalry bases, I am planning to use it in a unit filler like role.<br />
<br />
Not a tenday ago, I found a PDF for a Games Workshop event that will take place in June. It's called <a href="https://dl.dropbox.com/u/22050831/WH/other%20books/Regiment%20of%20Renown.pdf" target="_blank">Regiments of Renown</a> and defines the rules for 100pts skirmish battles between two opposing forces. We are planning to run that in our club and it is very likely that I will be joining with my Arabian Knights. I just need to paint a single archer to complete my force for that event and that's what I'll paint next... hopefully...<br />
<br />
Enjoy.</div><br />

Obviously pegasus knight substitutes, these guys were waiting on my desk for forever. Well, the vultures at least. After I <a href="http://garganthar.blogspot.com/2013/01/arabian-knights-vultures-update.html" target="_blank">posted about the vultures earlier</a>, I got so many comments. Apparently, cactii don't grow in Arabian deserts (go figure...), so I had to remove them from the bases. <br />
<br />
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nMrRDpCWYUs/UUnfQ_CEC2I/AAAAAAAABaM/7XK_QYxwc3Q/s1600/DSC01603.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="130" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nMrRDpCWYUs/UUnfQ_CEC2I/AAAAAAAABaM/7XK_QYxwc3Q/s200/DSC01603.JPG" /></a>So, vulture bases fixed and riders done. The riders are from Black Tree Design again. I believe they are horse rider guys though, not camel riders. there are minor conversions on each of the riders. The musician guy's horn is from some old High Elf set (it was metal), the spear of the yellow dude is a Wargames Foundry pike, and finally, <a href="http://www.reapermini.com/OnlineStore/p14253b/sku-down/P14253B" target="_blank">the lance</a> with streamer is a bit from Reaper Miniatures, decorated with a streamer from High Elf plastic kit. I must say I am very glad that i didn't throw my gf's high elf bits. They have proven themselves invaluable until now and I think I can use more of those bits.<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"></div>When I was painting the riders, I wanted them to be different then each other but also I tried to achieve brighter colors on them. That's something I am not used to and need to learn. The result is not the best; but I can't say I'm unhappy to be honest. And of course, there is a minor freehand on the streamer again.<br />
<br />
I kinda like how the army is coming together. Stay tuned for more and enjoy the photos... <br />
